CPR and First Aid sometimes referred to as the “Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care Course” is a critical part of your Rescue Diver Training and general skill-set for being an aware and valuable member of any diving team or group.

First aid and CPR are good skills for anyone involved in adventure sports. And, you need these skills for the PADI Rescue Diver course. EFR is a PADI affiliate that specializes in teaching these lifesaving skills and they’re for anyone, not just divers!
What Is EFR?
EFR or Emergency First Response, is one of the most up to date, primary/secondary care first aid courses available. As primary/secondary first aid training is a requirement of the Rescue Diver course, this course is usually offered in conduction with the Rescue course. This course is not just for divers, anyone who is interested in getting first aid training is welcome into the program!
Many EFR/Rescue candidates also complete the PADI Oxygen Provider training, as O2 is a big part of first aid to divers. In many countries, you do need to be trained in Oxygen administration to be able to use Oxygen!
What You Learn In The EFR Primary And Secondary Care Courses
- BLS (Basic Life Support) CPR and rescue breathing at the layperson level

- Preventing and caring for shock
- Spinal injury management
- Use of barriers to reduce disease transmission risk
